Abstract

Fe-3Al powder was prepared by mechanical alloying technique. Fe-3Albased composite materials were manufactured by powder metallurgy technology with different sintering temperatures and different sintering pressure. The mechanical properties, friction, wear performance and microstructure of the compossite were tested. The results show that the composite produced by sintering at 1050℃ and 10~15MPa pressure exhibits excellent friction and wear performance. The friction mechanism mainly are fatigue wear and abrasive wear and adhesive wear can be also observed.
