Abstract

AIM:To study the protection of Olitin Tooth Protecting Spray against the development of rat dental carries.METHODS:60 wistar rats were divided into 6 groups, group A and B,group C and D,group E and F,and inoculated with Streptococcus mutans?Streptococcus sobrinus and the mixture of these two kinds of bacteria in the oral cavity respectively. All rats were fed with caries-inducng diet 2000~#.The sum of the caries scores was assessed by the procedure of Keyes′.RESULTS:There were differences between the cariogenicity of three ways.Mean of caries score of rats colonized with Streptococcus mutans was significantly higher than that colonized with Streptococcus sobrinus((P0.01)).Mean of caries score of rats colonized with Streptococcus mutans and Streptococcus sobrinus was significantly lower than that colonized with Streptococcus mutans(P0.01).Compared with control, mean of caries score of rats in group B,D,F was significantly lower(P0.01,P0.01,P0.05).CONCLUSION:Olitin Tooth Protecting Spray could be used to protect teech from dental carries.
