Abstract
The biosorption of Sr2+ with baker's yeast pretreated by microwave was investigated, including the biosorption characteristics, the biosorption kinetics and the biosorption equilibrium. It was shown that the yeast's biosorption capacity of Sr2+ can be effectively improved by microwave pretreatment. The sorption equilibrium was quickly reached in 10 minutes, and the biosorption kinetics can be well described by the pseudo second-order equation(R2=0.9999).The kinetic parameters qe and k2 were 4.69 mg · g-1 and 0.29 g · mg-1 · min-1,respectively.The biosorption equilibrium was in accord with Langmuir models, and the maximum biosorptive capacity was 10.57 mg · g-1.The structure of the yeast remained undestroyed in the processes of microwave pretreatment and biosorption.FTIR analysis indicated that some adsorptive peaks of yeast after biosorption shifted and the intensity changed.
