Expression and significance of Matrix Metalloproteinase-3 in experimental lumbar degeneration disc

Abstract

ObjectiveTo detect the expression of Matrix Metalloproteinase-3 in experimental lumbar intervertebral disc and investigate the role of Matrix Metalloproteinase-3 in the course of intervertebral disc degeneration.MethodsTo develop SD rats lumbar degeneration disc model by operation as experimental group and the normal SD rats as control group.Every group had 16 rats.The expression of MMP-3 was investigated with immumohistochemistry and SDS-PAGE analysis.ResultsThe positive expression of MMP-3 tissues of experimental group was significantly higher than that in control group.The expression of MMP3 protein and its activity in the experimental group was increased obviously.ConclusionIt plays an important role for Matrix Metalloproteinase-3 in the course of intervertebral disc degeneration.
