Abstract
Basic veneer morphologies of crushed bamboo(Dendrocalamus farinosus) were studied.The results show that the average crack angle combed on bamboo's outer and inner skin face,at both the nodes and internode locations,ranged between 60° and 70°.After crushing,about 52% and 75% of the bamboo green layers separated the internodes and nodes,respectively.The average cross-section area between internodes was about 1.97 mm2,which contained 4.61 vascular bundles.The average cross section area at nodes was about 1.83 mm2,which contained 4.07 vascular bundles.The bamboo composites could be designed under controlled crushing conditions.
