Breeding and Application of Jingliangyou 5975,an Aromatic Two-line Japonica Hybrid Rice Combination with Fine Grain Quality

Jingliangyou 5975,derived from 0259S,an aromatic japonica PTGMS line,and gr75,an aromatic japonica line,is a new aromatic two-line late japonica hybrid rice combination.It yielded 7.30 t/hm2 on average,5.16% higher than that of the control hybrid Ejingza 1,in the regional trials for late rice of Hubei Province in 2006 and 2007.Its grain quality met the national standards of the first class of fine quality rice.It had a strong lodging resistance,a good tolerance to higher fertilization and a good cold tolerance.In March,2010,it was certified for commercial production by Hubei Provincial Crop Variety Appraisal Committee.The breeding procedure,major characteristics,cultivation and hybrid seed production techniques of Jingliangyou 5975 were introduced in detail.
