Abstract

Objective:To study human laryngeal carcinoma biology behavior in invasion and metastasis with the expression of membrane typeⅠmatrix metalloproteinase(MT1-MMP) . Methods: In 50 laryngeal carcinoma patients, the 50 samples of tumor, 30 samples of transitional tissue, 22 samples lymph nodes and 20 samples of distant normal tissues were tested . The localization of MT1-MMP and MMP-2 were determined by in situ hybridization, and their expression quantity was assayed by image analysis system. Results: MT1-MMP mRNA was localized predominantly in carcinoma cells cytoplasms with relatively weak stained in the stromal cells around carcinoma nest, these positive expressions of MT1-MMP mRNA occurred in the carcinoma cell cytoplasms of the transitional tissues and metastasis lymph node too. MT1-MMP mRNA expressions in primary tumors were different with transitional tissues, lymph node and normal tissues (P0.05). It was different between normal tissues and lymph nodes (P=0.00). It was not different between transitional tissues and lymph nodes (P=0.90), not different between transitional tissues and normal tissues too (P=0.260). Conclusion: MT1-MMP mRNA expression in primary, transitional (lymph node) and normal tissues are decreased. It plays a role in the biological behavior of laryngeal carcinoma invasion and metastasis.
