Abstract

The relationships among arable-land change,economic development and population growth were discussed preliminarily based the statistics data of arable-land resources during the past 20 years after the reform and opening to the outside world in Yantai.Main conclusions were drawn out as follows:①With the expansion of population,economic development,industrialization and urbanization,arable-land resources in Yantai city decreased constantly;②Economic development and population growth were the dominant driving factors in the decrease of arable-land in Yantai;③Spatial distribution of the decrease in arableland matched the differences in speed and scale of economic growth between different regions of Yantai area.Use of the limited arable-land resources scientifically and rationally has already become the urgent problem for urban construction,development and programming.
