The Effect of Losartan on Hypertension and Heart Rate Variability

Objective To observe the effect of losartan on hypertension and the heart rate variability . Methods 32 cases with mild or moderate primary hypertension were received losartan 50 mg～100 mg per day for six weeks. Blood pressure and heart rate variability were measured before and after treatmeant. Results The blood pressure, particularly systolic blood pressure decreasd at fourth week,while both systolic and diastolic blood pressure were obviously reduced at sixth week.Before treatment,the time domain of SDNN SDANN SDNNI, indicating the activity of the sympathetic nerve, were lower than that of normotensive controls. The degree of reduction was related to the duration of disease. After treatment, the time domain was normalizd. Conclusion 1.Losartan is an effective drug to treat the mild or moderate primary hypertension. 2.The abnormal heart rate variability was improved after the treatment.
