Application Research of Open Tympanoplasty in the Treatment of Chronic Otitis Media with Cholesteatoma

Objective To explore the application effect of open tympanoplasty in the treatment of chronic otitis media with cholesteatoma.Methods 70 cases of chronic otitis media with cholesteatoma from October 2009 to December 2010 in our hospital were selected as the objects of the study,they were treated with open tympanoplasty,and the treatment efficacy and safety were observed.Results After 3 months,dry ear in 70 cases,the dry ear rate was 100%;after 6 months,the tympanic membrane grew well in 67 cases,the healing rate was 95.7%.After 3 months and 9 months,the patient′s hearing were significantly improved,and the difference was statistically significant(P0.05).Postoperative dizziness in 1 case,low-key tinnitus in 2 cases,which after symptomatic treatment were significantly improved,no other serious complications.Conclusion Open tympanoplasty in the treatment of chronic otitis media with cholesteatoma has satisfactory results,after treatment patients′ hearing are improved significantly,and no serious complications,thus is a safe and effective treatment.
