Abstract

OBJECTIVE To study the distribution of Mannose-Binding Lectin (MBL) gene poly morphism in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients in Ningxia and the relationship between MBL gene poly morphism and RA. METHODS The gene mutation frequencies of MBL52 (C / T), MBL54 (G / A) and MBL57 (G / A) in 280 RA patients and 378 healthy people were determined by using PCR-RFLP. RESULTS At MBL57 (G / A), there was no variation in healthy people and RA patients of Ningxia. At MBL54 ( G / A) , there were statistically significant differences in the distribution of MBL genotype frequencies between RA patients and healthy people (P﹤0.05). At MBL52 (C / T), there were statistically significant differences in the distribution of the genotype frequencies and allele frequencies of MBL gene polymorphism between RA patients and healthy people (P ﹤ 0.05). CONCLUSION There is no relationship between MBL gene polymorphism and RA at MBL54 (G / A) , and T allele at MBL52 (C / T) probably played a role in protection from RA.
