Abstract

Objective To observe the left ventricular diastolic and systolic function in patients with hypothyroidism by speckle tracking and tissue Doppler imaging technique, and to understand whether there is dysfunction before appearance of clinical cardiovascular disease. Methods Twenty patients with hypothyroidism and 30 normal healthy subjects were examined by ultrasound.Their left ventricular ejection fraction, left ventricular tissue Doppler velocity of middle segment and strain rate were measured, then the results were analyzed by QLAB off-line software. Results Compared with normal group, there was no significant difference of left ventricular systolic function and left ventricular tissue Doppler velocity of middle segment in hypothyroidism group(P0.05),there were significant differences of left ventricular middle segment longitudinal, radial and circumferential strain rate(P0.05).Conclusion Compared with tissue Doppler imaging technique, speckle tracking imaging technique can reflect the reduced systolic and diastolic function in patients with hypothyroidism,it provides reliable information for clinical early diagnosis and treatment.
