Abstract
A novel superabsorbent resin of konjac glucmannan with acrylic acid-acrylamide/attapulgite using konjac glucmannan(KGM),acrylic acid(AA),acrylamide(AM) and attapulgite(AT) was synthesized by aqueous solution polymerization.The effects of the amount of konjac glucmannan,attapulgite,crosslinker,initiator and the ratio of acrylamide:acrylic acid on water absorbency were investigated.The structure and morphology of superabsorbent resin were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectra(FTIR) and scanning electron microscope(SEM).The results indicated that when the content of konjac glucmannan,attapulgite,crosslinker,initiator is 15%,30%,0.08%,0.4%(compare to the mass of monomer),respectively,and the mass ratio of acrylamide:acrylic acid is 5:1,the absorbancy of the resin was highest and the water absorbent rate of the sample was 978.47 g·g-1.The FT-IR spectra showed that KGM and AT participate in graft polymerization reaction with AA and AM.SEM indicated konjac glucmannan with acrylic acid-acrylamide copolymers/attapulgite superabsorbent resin own porous surface and different sizes of holes.
