Abstract

Objective To explore the effectiveness and safety of pregabalin in the treatment of post-herpetic neuralgia. Methods 72patients with post-herpetic neuralgia were randomly divided into two groups, with 36 cases in each group. Patients in the observation group were treated with Pregabalin, while patients in the control group were treated with gabapentin. The curative effect and adverse reactions were observed and compared between two groups. Results After 4 weeks of treatment, the total effective rate of observation group was 83.33%,significantly higher than 61.11% of control group(P 0.05). Both groups had decreased VAS score after treatment, but the observation group had more significant decrease(P 0.01). No severe reaction was found in both groups. Conclusions Pregabalin in the treatment of post-herpetic neuralgia is effective and safe, which can significantly improve patients' VAS score and has no serve adverse reactions.
