Abstract
With the development of the molecular biology, the interaction between plant host and pathogen and the molecular basis of the plat disease resistance have being revealed. There are two types of defense reactions that are induced by the pathogens: local resistance (LR) or hypersensitive response (HR) and systemic acquired resistance (SAR). Substances such as lignin, phytoalexin, active oxygen,salicylic acid are known to play important roles on the plant disease resistance. The genes involved in the resistance and defense and their expression and regulation are the genetic basis for the plant defense mechanism. In this review, the recent molecular achievements towards the plant disease resistance are summarized, the approaches in the future and the possible applications are also prospected.
