Abstract
Objective:To investigate the changes of Cathepsin B expression in different time point in rat after cerebral ischemia-reperfusion. Methods:Sixty SD rats were divided into normal group (n=10), sham-operated group (n=10) and cerebral ischemia reperfusion model group (model group, n=40), the expression of the protein and mRNA of Cathepsin B were respectively evaluated by methods of immunohistochemistry and RT-PCR. Results:compared with normal group and sham-operated group , The expression level of the protein and mRNA of Cathepsin B in the rats of model group increased significantly 1 hour and got to their peak 6h , kept a high level on 48h. Conclusions:The expression of Cathepsin B after ischemia-reperfusion is high and plays an important role in neuronal apoptosis.
