Diagnostic Value of Ultrasound Screening in Diagnosis of Fetal Omphalocele

Objective To evaluate the function of ultrasound screening in diagnosis and differential diagnosis of fetal omphalocele.Methods Fetal ultrasound screening was classified into three steps: 11~14 weeks pregnancy,18~24 weeks pregnancy and more than 28 weeks pregnancy.Results During the period of January 2003 to March 2005,21 924 fetus were scanned and eleven fetus with omphalocele were diagnosed.Among the 11 cases,5 were detected by ultrasound screening and 6 were miss-detected.Conclusion Ultrasound screening plays an important role in diagnosis and differential diagnosis of fetal omphaleocele and standard fetal ultrasound screening can help us to detect fetal omphaleocele as more as possible.
