Abstract

Of all the Chinese poets in the 1940s, Mu Dan is the most typical who continued the literary tradition of May 4th Movement. He reconsidered, suspected and criticized himself as well as the world in the thinking way of Lu Xun, from which we can see the lofty qualities of modern intellectuals. As a great poet in the 20th century, Mu Dan had obtained independent personality, realized his own historical task and proved that he had approached the spirit of Lu Xun in his poetry. Thus, his poetry brings not only a deep thought but also enrichment and sufferings from it.
