An Analysis of the Connotation of University Spirit

As the soul and ideological core of university,university spirit,though not an actual entity,always affects university teachers and students generation after generation.By comparing and studying views of various scholars,this paper starts with defining university spirit and proceeds with illustrating it in five aspects in the light of some issues encountered in the current construction of university spirit and the university spirit necessary for China in the new period,such as the spirit of freedom and independence,of all-inclusiveness,of advancing with the time,of social concern and of all-round development.
