A Control Study of Magnesium Valproate and Sodium Valproate and Lithium Carbonate in the Treatment of Manic Episode

Abstract

Objective:To observe the efficacy and side effects of Magnesium Valproate and sodium valproate and lithium carbonate in the treatment of manic episode.Methods:One hundred and twenty patients with manic episode were divided into study group(Magnesium Valproate)and control group(sodium valproate and lithium carbonate)randomly. Efficacy and side effects were assessed with BRMS,CGI and TESS respectively before treatment and after treatment for 2,4,6weeks.Results:After 2,4,6weeks treatment,the total score of BRMS and the score of each factor were significantly lower than that before treatment in three groups,andthe scores of treatment factors and TESS was significantly lower in study group than in control group.Conclusion:Magnesium Valproate is more effective and well tolerated in the treatment of manic episode.
