Analysis on recent status of the bottom trawl fishery resources in the East China Sea region

Based on the data collected from bottom trawl routine surveying in the East China Sea region during 2000-2005,this paper dealed with the analysis on the species composition,Catch Per Unit Effort(CPUE)and biological characters of main commercial species caught in the water area mentioned above.The results indicated that where the resources utilization structure by bottom-trawl fishery has been trending towards the lower valuable and lower trophic level,the CPUE for the main commercial fishes have been decreasing continously,meanwhile the biological characters of the catches have not been any improving,and the percentages of young fishes in the total catches have been uninterruptedly rising.All of those facts indicated that the status of fishery resources has been getting worse in the East China Sea region.Therefore we should strengthen the conservation and management of fishery resources,which would be implemented through reducing the current CPUE and lengthening the current duration of midsummer moratorium in the East China Sea region.
