Abstract
Aircraft icing is a common phenomenon in flight and also one of the main hazards to flight. An icing wind tunnel, which can simulate this phenomenon by producing an icing weather, is the most important equipment in this respect. This paper presents the mechanism of the ice formation and describes the different classifications of ice which are based on aircraft parts, physical forming process and geometry of ice. Then the paper analyzes the influence of aircraft icing on the flight. Following this, de-/anti-ice methods are discussed in the end.
