Abstract

Objective To analyze the features of high resolution petrous bone MSCT image in congenital malformation of the external, middle and inner ear; and to evaluate the values of 3D postprocessing in the otoic malformations. Methods Twenty eight cases including 35 ears with congenital malformations were scanned by MSCT, with 0.5mm collimation. Postprocessing images were completed by Toshiba alatoview workstation.Results In 35 ears,2 ears were with stenosis of external auditory meatus, 19 ears with atresia of external auditory meatus, 1 ear with perpendicular external auditory meatus, 1 ear with congenital cholesteatoma, 21 ears with malformation of inner ear. Conclusion High resolution petrous bone MSCT images, combined with 3D postprocessing technology,can clearly show otoic malformations and are superior to SSCT.
