Abstract
Objective To study the regeneration process of blood vessels in splenic autotransplants and to provide data for clinical splenic autotransplantation or splenic experimental research. Methods Fifty six healthy Wistar rats were equally divided into seven groups. In each group, splenectomy and splenic autotransplantation were performed in 5 animals, the other 3 only had sham operation. Density changes of renascent blood vessels after splenic autotransplantation were studied under light microscope and through computer image analysis qualification 24 h after the perfusion of Chinese ink into aorta 7, 14, 30, 60, 90, 120 and 180 d later in each group. Results Seven days after operation, it was found that the renascent blood vessels were extended from greater omentum into splenic autografts. With the time going on the vacular density in autografts become greater. One hundred and eighty days after operation, the density almost became normal. Conclusion Autotransplantation of spleen into greater omentum is a convenient and effective way for splenic transplantation.
