Abstract

In order to discover the antifungal activity of Vitex negundo var.heterophylla and provide scientific proofs for its exploitation and utilization, the fungistasis of leaves and flowers were investigated by mycelium growth rate method. The results showed that the antifungal activities of flowers alcoholic extracts were higher than leaves. At 5.0 g/L,the inhibition rates of flower extracts on Valsa mali,Alternaria brassicae,Alternaria solani and Fusarium oxysporum f.sp.vasinfectum were 87.72%,77.32%,72.69% and 71.37%,respectively.The flowers alcoholic extracts were fractionated with different solvents, petroleum ether and ethyl acetate fraction had stronger antifungal activities than that of other solvents. The EC50 values of petroleum ether and ethyl acetate fraction against Valsa mali were 0.32 g/L and 0.23 g/L,respectively.The EC50 values of petroleum ether and ethyl acetate fraction against Alternaria brassicae were 0.45 g/L and 0.20 g/L,respectively.The fraction of petroleum ether was the emphasis for further study.
