Abstract

Biological carbon fiber membrane and common membrane material were used to treat domestic sewage. The removal efficiencies of regular indices and the problem of membrane fouling of these two kinds of membrane materials were investigated. Experimental results showed that the removal efficiency of domestic wastewater with biological carbon fiber membrane was higher than that with common membrane material in the conditions of HRT 12 h,air water ratio 10 ∶1 and MLSS 8 g/L,with removal efficiencies of COD and NH4 +-N 5% and 10% respectively higher than common membrane material. The membrane cleaning cycle of biological carbon fiber membrane was 37 days which was longer than that of common membrane material, which indicated that the problem of membrane fouling was improved. The result confirmed that the biological carbon fiber membrane was applicable and advantageous for the treatment of domestic wastewater.
