Review of Virtual Water Research

Virtual water is a new concept for solving the problem of water scarcity and water security , and it means water used for producing product and services. Virtual water strategy means countries or regions whose water are lack achieve their water security and food security by importing water-intensive product especially food from those whose water are abundant. In this paper ,we introduce the concept of virtual water and its meaning, the method of calculating virtual water content and the research condition. At the same time , we point out the insufficiency of current research, forecast the research direction.
