Abstract

The contact fatigue life is tested for H10Cr4Ni4Mo4V steel carbonized with different surface hardness and different uniformity of the surface hardness. The results show that the fatigue life of samples with high hardness and good hardness uniformity is high than that of samples with lower surface hardness and hardness uniformity, which imply that hardness value and uniformity must be controlled, the rational surface hardness is 60.0~65.0 HRC and proper surface hardness difference value is less than 2 HRC for same component.
