Abstract
Objective To investigate the frequency and risk factors of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.Methods Blood samples of 312 patients were collected for assessment of glycemic and lipid profiles,liver enzymes,and HOMA-IR.The diagnosis of NAFLD was established by ultrasound.Results NAFLD was diagnosed in 47.0% of patients with higher waist circumference,body weight,and BMI(P0.01).The levels of triglycerides,insulin,and HOMA-IR were significantly higher in T2DM patients with NAFLD than those without NAFLD(P0.05).Conclusion lmost half of the patients with T2DM were found to have NAFLD.They showed elevated BMI,higher levels of triglycerides,insulin,and HOMA-IR compared with those without NAFLD.
