Abstract
Objective To explore the corelation of serum IL-4,IL-10,IFN-γ to childhood bronchial asthma(asthma)and their clinical significance. Methods A total of 47 children with asthma were collected in random at asthma center of Qilu children's hospital of Shandong university.Asthma was diagnosed according to the criteria formulated by the respiratory group of paediatric branch of Chinese medical association in 2003.51 gender and age-matched healthy children were selected as the controls. After peripheral veinous blood was collected, the concentration of serum IL-4,IL-10,IFN-γ were detected by use of enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)and compaired between asthma group and control group. Results The serum IL-4 concentration [(346.74±82.92)ng/L] of asthma group was statistically significantly higher than those of control group [(199.87±59.25)ng/L](P0.01),there was no significant different between asthma group and control group in the serum IL-10 concentration(P0.05),the serum IFN-γ concentration [(94.51±22.92)ng/L] of asthma group were lower than those of the control group [(110.75±47.11)ng/L](P0.05).Conclusions The concentration of Th2 type cytokine IL-4 was higher in children with asthma than that in controls, the concentration of Th1 type cytokine IFN-γ was lower in children with asthma than that in controls, indicating that the balance of Th1/Th2 cell immune is destructed in children with asthma.IL-4 and IFN-γ test may be used as a diagnostic method for asthma.
