Abstract
Bone fractures and defects are frequent met in clinic, and the former treatments for these conditions have shortcomings such as slow healing progress, limited bone tissue resources and deficient repairing and constructing the mechanical function. This article reviewed the development and recent physiological researches on the bone morphogenetic proteins(BMPs)after the discovery of this family, and their introduction to clinic combining with variety of carriers and applying with gene therapy as new methods for treatment, also an understanding of the superiority and pendency for the application of BMPs.
