Abstract
In this paper, production lines are classified into two types, one of which is with buffers while the other without buffers, simulation models and computation programs are made respectively for them to get the data of process time and output;Analysing this data with diagrams,we get the effect of production variability on the process time and production efficiency;comparing those two types of production lines,it is found that buffers contribute to the production efficiency, also we get some conclusions with respect to WIP,the trend that production efficiency changes with time and so on.These conclusions are explained and the results are validated by simulation software Flexsim.
