Change of corneal thickness analysis after LASIK

Objective To observe the change of cornea thickness after laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK), and analyze the causes of change. Methods 106 patients ( 207 eyes) were treated by LASIK. The changes of cornea thickness were measured 1 week,1,3 month and half a year after the surgery. The difference between theoretic data and factal data was compared and analyzed. Results The real cornea thickness of patients with refraction –1.00DS~ -6.00DS is smaller than the expected value 1 week postoperation (P0.01), and is greater than the expected value 3 month postoperation (P0.05). There is no significant difference between the real cornea thickness and the expected value 1 month and hallf a year after the surgery in this group. The real cornea thickness of patients with refraction –6.25DS~ -12.00DS is not different from the expected value 1 week and 1 month postoperation (P0.05) , and is greater than the expected value 3 month and half a year after the surgery (P0.05). Conclusion Many kinds of factors effect the change of cornea thickness after LASIK. The change tend towards stability gradually half a year later.
