Abstract
With the development of networks, the understanding of network behavior is of great importance for network management, network planning and network development. And the measurement of network traffic is the foundation for the study of network behavior. The current measurements of network traffic demand the measurement at the inner core node of the network, thus requiring fairly large network overhead. The paper describes the traffic measurement in edges of the network. Then based on this measurement, the network traffic in every link is estimated. In this paper, the algorithm for estimating the network traffic is proposed, and the measurement overhead of network traffic is thus saved. Finally, the simulation indicates that this algorithm is feasible and practicable.
