Abstract
The ecological footprint theory proves that there emerges an ecological population excess in Xinjiang and the excess population increases rapidly. This illustrates that the present human economic activities surpass the capacity of ecological resources, which proves that the rapid population growth in Xinjiang has become a reality. Therefore,to solve the problem of excess population has become the key to the alleviation of the pressure on ecosystem in Xinjiang.
