The Relations between Dunhuang Literature and Others

Abstract

he documents including Chinese,Uighur,Khotanese-Saka and Tibetan etc,,whichhave been found from the Stra-Library of Mogao Caves in Dunhuang,Contain not onlydocuments about Buddhism,Manicbaeism,Christianity and Daoism,but also many liter-ary documents and Others,I am making a special study of the relations and these literaryworks. During the period of the Tang ,Five Dynasties and Song ,the Dunhuangliterature had close relation with those of bordering regions. On the one hand,as a partof Chinese culture which was most developed among Asia,even the world during the an-cient times,the Dunhuang literature gave a wide and deep influence upon the ones ofneighbouring nations or regions. For examples,the form of Chinese letters in Dun-huang was adopted by the Ganzhan Uighurs ,the method of the Sutra-tellingwas adopted by the literature of the Qoo Uighurs, the style of Pranidhi inscriptions ofKhotanese-Saka learned from that of Chinese literature of Dunhuang,form of the poemsand the talking and singing litereture of the Tibetans was much similar to theQu-zi-ci and the talking and singing literature of Dunhuang,etc,,on the otherhand,Dunhuang literature was also influenced by ones of the Western Regions in someaspects,for example,the famous Dunhuang Ms.”Fo-shuo-a-mi-tuo-jing-jiang-jing-wen 文”(S.6551)was influenced by the culture of the Qoo Uighurs. There were close relations between Dunhuang literature and religions. Among theDunhuang literary works, we can find the elements of Nestorian and Manichaen litera-tures,More Buddhist elements of lndia were introduced into Dunhuang Chinese litera-ture not only in artistic form, but also in the language and words,These promoted todevelop the Chinese literature of Dunhuang.
