Disczimination of Ye Changchi’s date of Birth and death

Ye Changchi , a famous epigraphist textual criticist and bibliographer at the crossing period of the end of the Later Qing Dynasty and the very beginning of the Republic of China .He was well known for his two works Discussing on the inscriptions of ancient bronzes and stone tablets as well as the Poem of record events ,which were long cherished by those to come. His Yuandulu Diary received so much public praise that it was valued as the best of works of the time,and won the place of one of the “Four diary of Later Qing ” .Oddly ,scholar of so great fame,ye’s date of birth and death has different opinions or interpretation.This article arranged the dates of Ye’s livinghood and consulting related historical works,and in hopes of coming into the correct conclusion. I intended to produce a reliable date for the scholars who were engaged in research of history of Qing Dynasty with the help of this article.
