Metafictional Techniques in Slaughterhouse Five

Kurt Vonnegut is a well-known American novelist.Slaughterhouse Five in 1969 is one of his masterpieces and is considered as a postmodernist novel.The thesis will make a technical analysis of Slaughterhouse Five from the perspective of metafiction.It argues that in the period of the coming death of the as some of the literary theorists prophesy,as a self-conscious writer,Vonnegut is always trying to explore the possibilities of the novel writing by bringing postmodernist chaos to the traditional novel writing order,thus deconstruct the traditional novel writing modes by employing metafictional techniques.
