Abstract

The principal philosophy of the pre-Qin days contained the sense of a chivalrous man. Living in the Western Han Dynasty, Sima Qian inherited its essence and developed it into a theory and took it as one of the important theoretical grounds to write his Historical Records, evaluate historical characters. Because of the influence of Historical Records, chivalrous sense becomes the main aspect of the excellent moral heritage of the Chinese nation, and it greatly influences the creation of modern knight-errant fictions in ideology and art.
