Abstract

Objective To study the characteristics of cardiac structure and function in patients with lone atrial fibrillation. Methods Forty-nine patients with lone atrial fibrillation(LAF group,49 patients) and 49 healthy people(control group) were controlled under the ACC/AHA/ESC the guideline of diagnostic criteria of lone atrial fibrillation(LAF Standard).Cardiac structure and function by means of echocardiography were assessed. Results Compared with control group,LAF group had greater left ventricular mass, left ventricular mass index, left atrial volume and right atrial volume(P0.05).In LAF group, left atrial volume intensity was correlated with left ventricular mass index(r=0.335,P=0.019).Conclusion The left atrial volume, right atrial volume, left ventricular mass and left ventricular mass index are significantly enlarged in the patients with lone atrial fibrillation, though there is no organic cardiac disease.Atrium volume and left ventricular mass should be a new predictor for the lone atrial fibrillation.
