Abstract

This article takes the cross sectional data of the Rural household consumption expenditure in Shannxi Province(2005) as a sample,and makes a empirical analysis of the rural residents' consumption by applying the Extended Linear Expenditure System(ELES).The analysis indicates that the main expenditure is on food,education and housing.The demand elasticity of rural residents is small and the marginal propensity to consume is low at present.The rural family is at surviving type consumption stage.
