Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the effect of different hormone replacement therapy (HRT) regimens on mammographic density in postmenopausal women. Methods: 120 postmenopausal women were divided into two groups: group A(n=56) were given nilestriol and plused medroxyprogesterone (MPA); group B(n=64) were given Tibolone and group C(n=50) were postmenopausal women who had not use hormone. Mammography was taken and analyzed by independent ratio-logist blinded to postmenopausal women after administration. Results: The rate of mammary pain in group A (76.8%) was significantly higher than that of group B (18.8%) and the control group (8%). The mammographic density increased 32.1% in group A and 9.4% in group B. The mammographic density significantly increased in group A(P 0.05) and did not significantly increase in group B compared with control group(P 0.05); the mammographic density in group A significantly increased compared with group B(P 0.05). Conclusion: There is a low incidence rate with mammary pain and a low influence in breast density in the women treated with Tibolone.
