Abstract

Two types of rail grinding techniques which are widely employed abroad are comprehensively dealt with in this paper.Emphases are devoted to describe the principle,the scope,as well as benefits and defects of the preventive grinding approach(profile grinding).It's pointed out that the wear,fatigue and corrugation can effectively be controlled by porfile grinding so that the interaction of wheel and rail is improved and associated impact loads and noise are reduced,as well as the rail life is extended.
