Abstract

The philosophy and aesthetics of Wang Guo-wei are deeply effected by Schopenhauer.The irrational view of pessimism makes the core of Schopenhauers ethics and aesthetics.It also becomes the stand point of Comments on A Dream of the Red Mansions.But it is self-contradictory for Wang Guo-wei to commentate A Dream of the Red Mansions by using Schopenhauers theory of original sin-freedom andthe third tragic.
