Abstract

Tarim basin consists of three typical sections in Cambrian - Ordovician, i.e. platform, slope - shelf and basin. The structural types and sedimentary backgrounds constraints the types and features of facies. Because of the difference of platform structure, platform, slope - shelf and basin have distinct diversities in facies constitution and longitudinal assembled sequence. According to the model of ancient ocean sedimentary surroundings and the development features of facies in Tarim basin, ten facies and serials of sub - facies are measured off in Cambrian -Ordovician. By Using ocean geography and physiognomy features, three sedimentary systems (platform, shelf, basin) and two longitudinal sedimentary sequence (transgression and regression) are identified.
