Abstract
Objective:To explore the role of cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2) in pathogenesis of endometriosis. Methods:The levels of COX-2 in serum and peritoneal fluid were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) in 30 women with endometriosis and 30 women without endometriosis. Results:The level of COX-2 in peritoneal fluid of endometriosis group was significantly higher than those in serum of endometriosis group and serum and peritoneal fluid of non-endometriosis group(P0.01).In peritoneal fluid of endometriosis group, the level of COX-2 of stage III~IV was higher than that of stage I~Ⅱ(P0.05).Conclusion:COX-2 plays an important role in pathogenesis of endometriosis.
