Abstract
Preparation of m-nitrobenzoic acid by nitration of benzoic acid used sulfuric acid and nitric acid. The conditions of synthesis and purification were studied. The results showed that the optimal condition was as follows: the molar ratio of sulfuric acid and benzoic acid was 4 ∶ 1,the molar ratio of nitric acid and benzoic acid was 3 ∶ 1,the reaction temperature was 85 ℃,the reaction time was 4 h,the yield of m-nitrobenzoic acid was 82. 3%,the purity was 91. 3% under these conditions. Acid-base compensation purification method was studied, which the purity could reach0 more than 98%.
