Abstract

The effect of Sb content on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the magnesium alloy AZ80 was investigated. The results show that the grains are finest, the impact toughness and tensile strength are maximal, the hardness is smallest for the alloy containing 0.5% Sb. And the impact toughness and tensile strength decrease, the hardness increases for the alloy with the further increase of Sb. And the tensile fracture mechanism changes from cleavage fracture to quasi-cleavage fracture.
