Abstract
The inflaming retarding effect of Ca on molten Al-Mg alloy under various temperatures and retention time is investigated. The results show that the burning of magnesium in the alloy without Ca is initially increased with the increase of the temperature, then decreased, the recovery of the magnesium in the alloy is,contrary, decreased firstly then increased. For the Al-Mg alloy with Ca,the burning of magnesium is continuously increased and the recovery of the magnesium in the alloy is singly decreased with the increase of the temperature. The variation of burning and recovery of the magnesium in the alloy with Ca is milder than that without Ca situation.
