Abstract
A groundwater simulation model was used to simulate groundwater dynamics and to evaluate groundwater resources using geographic information system (GIS) technology, thereby, making the groundwater simulation more effective. The integrated system was then used to develop groundwater management strategies on the Mihuaishun Basin in Beijing by predicting the dynamic groundwater characteristics for different usage conditions. The study results indicate that the groundwater can be effectively used and managed as a water resource for the basin. The integration of the groundwater model with GIS is necessary for efficient operation of the model for groundwater resource assessment.
